Parking ticket revenues were up in March over last year, the county treasurer told the Dukes County Commission last week.

Treasurer Ann Metcalf said ticket revenues were up $9,000, and April revenues were up about $1,000.

Also, county manager Martina Thornton said the response rate to the 2020 census in Dukes County is 12 per cent, compared with 56 per cent statewide. “We will be on a very short stick when it comes to divvying up federal funding if we don’t have a better response rate,” Ms. Thornton said. In other business last Wednesday, commissioners:

• Set May 18 as the deadline for new applicants for an open seat on the airport commission after Fred Fournier decided not to accept the appointment.

• Learned that emergency management director Chuck Cotnoir has resigned. Ms. Thornton will be assuming his duties for now.

• Set May 28 as the deadline for applicants to fill the unexpired term of John Alley, who died in March.
