The Martha's Vineyard Playhouse is posting the winning entries in its five-minute play contest, which drew nearly 30 submissions last month.

"Over the past two weeks or so we've been rehearsing, recording and posting simple Zoom readings of these little gems," playhouse artistic director MJ Bruder Munafo said in an email to the Gazette.

"What fun it's been learning the ins and out of Zoom and working with actors from all over the country via this technology," she added.

The prompt for the play-writing contest was "Five minute plays containing a moment of joy," and the first four of six winners are currently posted on the playhouse website, mvplayhouse.org/theater/2020/03/5-minute-plays.

They are Hatched, by Michael Towers, with actors Christopher Roberts and Josephine Orr; Indoor Activities for Children, by Ledia Xhoga, with Cristi Andrews and Vilma Hodo; Mr. Moonbarley, by J.B. Miller, with Eileen Padua and Shelagh Hackett and Out of Mind, by Mona Hennessy, with Paul Munafo, Jenny Allen and Heidi Karolina Harger.

Still to come are Two Pigeons, by James E. Marlow, and Take Two by Dan Newman. Ms. Bruder Munafo said those are scheduled to be posted on the playhouse website Sunday.
