Julie Fay, the executive director of Martha’s Vineyard Community Services, and Alec Walsh, a former partner of global asset management firm Harding Loevner, have been elected to the board of the Permanent Endowment for Martha’s Vineyard, according to an announcement from the community foundation.

Mr. Walsh is a Chilmark resident and former longtime seasonal visitor and has served on the endowment’s investment committee since 2018. Ms. Fay, who lives in Vineyard Haven, has been with MVCS since 2013 and plans to retire this summerr.

They join the board as the endowment expands its reach to support Island non-profits affected by the Covid-19 pandemic with the Emergency Response Fund. Established in mid-March, the fund has awarded nearly $230,000 in grants, including more than $85,000 in rental relief, to non-profits and regional service providers.
