A 2016 Martha's Vineyard Regional High School graduate, and former Chappy Ferry deckhand, is heading to Australia as part of the Fulbright Student Program, reports Pasadena Now.

Jade Livingston of Chappaquiddick, who graduated from Caltech this year, will study marine microbes on coral reefs.

A National Merit Scholar and valedictorian of her MVRHS class, Ms. Livingston was awarded a full-ride scholarship to Caltech, where she earned a bachelor's of science degree.

Sponsored by the U.S. government since 1946 and administered by the State Department, the Fulbright Student Program sends recent college graduates to other countries to do research, study and/or teach.
