This year's Possible Dreams auction, held entirely online for the first time in its 42-year history, raised a total of $362,664 for Martha's Vineyard Community Services.
More than 300 people watched the auction on Zoom Sunday afternoon, with 86 bidders taking part in the online auction, according to an announcement from MVCS spokesperson Mary Korba.
The biggest single winning bid was $46,500 for Massachusetts license plate MV 1. Other auction items brought in a total of $92,650, including $21,600 for two custom sculptures by Vineyard Haven metal artist Anthony Holand.
Event sponsorships and program book ads accounted for $118,094 and the auction also received its largest-ever amount of donations, $105,420, Ms. Korba noted.
"Also, there has been increased interest in low number license plates over the last few days, and we will be holding another online auction for MV plates 2-5 in the very near future," she wrote.
