NAMI MV, the Island branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, this week announced a $5,650 donation from Michael Blanchard Inspirational Photography, Doug Abdelnour of Noman’s and Christina Izzo of Slip 77. Mr. Blanchard selected NAMI MV as the recipient of the proceeds from his 2021 inspirational calendar, which was sold by 10 Island stores including Noman’s and Slip 77.

“NAMI is the Island’s best-kept secret and I want people to know about it now because of the good work they are doing,” Mr. Blanchard said in a statement. “More people need to know about it.”

Estab;ished to to educate the public on mental health issues, advocate for better mental health services and support people whose loved ones are living with mental health issues, NAMI offers support groups, online courses, webinars and special events throughout the year, as well as a peer support at the high school. All NAMI MV services are free.

Fewer than 100 of Mr. Blanchard's 2021 calendars are left, with a few still in stock at some Island stores, according to the announcement.
