Laurel Redington, of the Vineyard's WMVY radio station and MVYRadio streaming services, has won three awards from the Massachusetts Broadcasting Association, according to an announcement from the station.

All three awards were for 2020 segments of Ms. Redington's weekly public affairs program The Vineyard Current, which airs at 10 a.m. Sundays. 

In the category of Critical Coverage, M. Redington won a merit award for a piece entitled Racism: A Necessary & Uncomfortable Conversation.

She also earned a merit award in the Feature Story category for Blue Whale: A Rare Sighting And Other Gifts From The Sea.

In the Spot News category, Ms. Redington won her first-ever First Place award for Coronavirus and Domestic Violence: A Public Health Crisis Within A Public Health Crisis. 

Ms. Redington has won Massachusetts Broadcasting Association awards in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, according to the announcement. She has held various roles at the station since joining WMVY in 1991, and currrently serves as its community outreach director.
