The Beach Road Weekend music festival will not be returning to Vineyard Haven until late summer 2022, producer Adam Epstein said Monday.

“With the slow rollout of the vaccine and the recent spike in new cases of Covid-19 across the United States, we feel that it would not be safe for our fans, our staff, our musicians and the residents of Martha’s Vineyard,” Mr. Epstein said in a statement.

Mr. Epstein is the CEO of Innovation Arts & Entertainment.

In January, Mr. Epstein won approval from Tisbury selectmen to hold the three-day music festival over the last weekend of August. At the time, he said he believed that Covid-19 vaccinations would be widespread enough by then for the event to be safe.

In his statement Monday, Mr. Epstein said plans for an August 2022 festival are already under way.

“We are actively talking with artist managers and agents and working with the hospitality industry on the Island to create travel packages now,” he said in part.

After its 2019 debut, Beach Road Weekend was widely hailed as a successful event. Performers Beck and Norah Jones were announced as headliners for the 2020 festival, which was canceled due to the pandemic.
