The Chappy Community Center is starting off the summer season with an open house/work party on the Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Check the CCC website for all the details.

Here are a few tidbits. The party runs from 10 a.m. and noon both days. You will be able to register for programs, buy tickets for events, pay for your annual dues and tennis court time. The coordinator and program manager will be on hand to sign you up and to field any questions. There are many and varied projects for work party volunteers to choose from including but not limited to installing a tether ball, horseshoe pit and painting the dingy bottom. At noon, ice cream is served. This is a wonderful opportunity to get back out into the community after a year of isolation.

Yoga with Jay is scheduled for Sunday mornings from 8:30 to 10 a.m., both in person or virtually. Tom Pardee is back with Tai Chi on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m. on the basketball court. Tennis lessons start June 1. On-line registration for all programs opens on Friday May 28. I’ve just skimmed the surface here. It’s all spelled out on the website. The CCC crew is ready and eager for an extra busy 2021 summer season.

The center is still seeking an assistant sailing instructor. This job would look great on any student’s resume. Interested applicants can apply online.
