Ginny Weis Cramer, her daughter Liz, and son in law Mark are on-Island with other family members, having a lovely visit and a memorial service for our friend Leda Giatti. They stopped by on Sunday to bring me flowers and say hi.

Ginny and I attended the same high school, Our Lady of Good Counsel in White Plains, N.Y. Leda and Ginny were devoted to their summers on Martha’s Vineyard.

Ginny is renting a house in Oak Bluffs for this beautiful week. So far, they have had a sunset dinner at Larsen’s in Menemsha, brunch at Linda Jean’s, visited their favorite beaches, and relaxed. I hope they all return soon.

Here’s the big fish story from the tournament: a 22-year old Islander caught a bluefin tuna in his hands! Imagine that.

Linda Tydings Massaro, Dennis Von Mehren and Jessica Oliver are coming here today for a pizza fest. I met Linda for the first time in June but she has been a Facebook friend for six years. She visited our campgrounds in June and is back again for a September jaunt. She appreciates the hospitality of the Feeneys. Dennis and Jessica are old salts on the island. What a treat for me.

Chris and Nicole Cimeno just stopped by. I love September.

Gretchen Baer flew back to Bisbee, Ariz. after spending a fabulous month with her mom, artist Jackie Baer, here in our town. Gretchen and her art students are repainting Studio Mariposa, where she teaches. Trust me: the walls are not being painted a solid color. It is all artwork.

Speaking of art, multi-talented Nancy Jephcote will have her first art show beginning Sept. 29 at the Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse. There will be an opening reception at the Playhouse on the patio. Masks are required. I’ll see you there.

Eric and Kathy Poehler have returned from spending Kathy’s birthday weekend in New York city. They spent time at the 9/11 memorial, walked everywhere, and had a ferris wheel ride in Times Square. Good for them.

Sad news has reached me that one of the nicest people, Alain Lucas, has passed. Such a kind person and great bass player. May he rest in peace.

Get well wishes go out to David Wilson, recovering nicely from a bicycle accident. James Klingensmith is post-op for two weeks at North Ave Rehab and Healthcare Center, 70 Fulton street, Room 202, Boston, MA 02109.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along Karen Cimeno on Sept. 5. Sept. 13 was claimed by Schuyler Weurth. And on September 14, Tyla Darcey, Shelyn Garcia and Geraldine Brooks took the cake. Many happy returns.
