The 20th annual Ceremony of Remembrance takes place Saturday, Sept. 18 at the Edgartown Lighthouse. The dedication ceremony by the Martha’s Vineyard Museum commemorates children who have died by placing engraved cobblestones at the base of the lighthouse.

The memorial was conceived by Islander Rick Harrington after the death of his son Ricky in 1995. To date there are nearly 900 names memorialized.

The event on Saturday begins at 1 p.m. The rain date is Sept. 25.
