Finally, it looks like we shall be able to hold our first fall First Night on Friday, Oct. 1 on Main street in Vineyard Haven. Meet your shopkeepers, eat, see your friends, enjoy the music and art. I’ll see you there.

Actually, this weekend is packed with activities. I expect you to meet me at Five Corners at 11 a.m. on Saturday for the national women’s march protesting the usual garbage against us. I can’t believe I still have to do this. Come say hello. I’ll be the one in the wheelchair.

To sweeten the day, Lady Fest is being held live in Oak Bluffs that very evening. Music, bands, food, Circuit Avenue and a welcome donation to Connect to End the Violence. Another place to see me.

Then, to polish off the weekend: Father Paul says he will bless animals for the upcoming Saint Francis Day. This will take place at in the back parking lot at St. Augustine’s Church after the 4 p.m. Mass on Saturday and the 9 a.m. Mass on Sunday. Too bad my snake, Baby, passed. I shall bring dogs and cats. Perhaps my turkeys.

On Monday, this year’s first celebrations of Indigenous Peoples Day will be held. Celebrate at Felix Neck between 2 and 4 p.m. There will be drumming. Donations are welcome.

A major event of last weekend was the marriage of beautiful Marketa Marganova to her fiance Darren Mancha on September 18. May they live happily ever after.

Wes Stokes has just said goodbye to fishing buddy Matt Pearsall from Connecticut. They had a great time but it has not been a great fishing year for them. Wes is now welcoming his fabulous parents, Bill and Jan Stokes, also of Connecticut. Old friends.

There will be a celebration of Brian Viera’s life at the P A. Club on Oct. 23. All are welcome and it is potluck. Sonya Lima is looking for pictures and anecdotes of our beloved Fern. Let her know if you have any.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along Linda Tydings Massaro, Armando Abundez and Katie Ruggerio on Sept. 27. And on Sept. 28, Natasha Almodover turned two. She shared her birthday with Maggie Shreve, Joey Tussins, Patti Young and Rosemary Therese Laura. Many happy returns.
