Commercial oyster season begins in Edgartown next week with harvesting on Sengekontacket Pond starting Jan. 17 and running through March.
Selectmen appropved the dates and limits at their meeting Monday. Fishing will be allowed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oysters will be harvested into 100 pound bags, with a limit of 10 bags per day, the equivalent of two bushels.
Commercial oystering may be allowed later in Edgartown Great Pond.
In other business, the select board approved an excavation permit for the Vineyard Transit Authority as part of its project to install electric charging stations at the Church Street bus station.
The $1.2 million project is due to be completed in April.
And more places are closing up for the deep winter months — the board gave approval for Edgartown Diner, Edgartown Meat & Fish, the Wharf Pub and Rockfish to close for cleaning and repairs.
