During the month of March, the Martha’s Vineyard Commission will present two community-focused discussions about climate change. Both events are free, open to the public and will take place over Zoom.

The topic on March 7 is Let’s Talk About Climate Change and the Local Economy. A panel of local climate planners and businesspeople will discuss climate change impacts to the economy, climate change-related job opportunities, diversifying the economy and economic sustainability. A public discussion will follow the presentation. This event takes place from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

The title of the March 23 presentation is The Cost of Not Adapting to Climate Change. Economist Charles Goodhue, who is the MV Climate Action Plan’s economic resilience consultant, will discuss estimates of losses and economic impacts to the Vineyard based on sea level rise and storms. This event will take place from 3 to 4 p.m.
