Keep an eye on the Chappy Community Center Facebook page for the date of the long-awaited return of potluck suppers.

The community center website is fully updated with sign-up information for the programs planned for the 2023 season. If you are feeling tired of winter and impatient for summer, perusing the offerings and making some commitments will surely help the time go more quickly. The mere thought of lobster rolls and ice cream on the porch might be enough to transport you to the warm days ahead.

Mark your calendars for the annual Town Meeting on Tuesday April 12. On the warrant will be at least one article of great interest to Chappaquiddickers. The Chappy Ferry steering committee has received a proposal for an engineering study that will follow up on the town’s Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation Plan. The engineering study will collect additional information and conduct engineering assessments of the Chappy Point parking lot, the Chappy Ferry landings and the abutting portions of Dock and Daggett streets. The results of this preliminary study will support pursuit of grant funding sources and subsequent design and permitting activities.

The Ready Service subcommittee of the Chappy Ferry steering committee will hold a Zoom meeting on Thursday, March 10 starting at 4:15 p.m. to present its report on possible solutions to reducing the ferry line wait. Concepts ranging from a third ferry to a bridge were evaluated. Find the link on the town website in the agenda section.

The full Chappy Ferry steering committee has scheduled its next meeting for Thursday, March 17 at 5 p.m. It’s always interesting and public input is vital.
