Actress Yara Shahidi will moderate a discussion free for young people on Black women in film at the Performing Arts Center on Sunday, August 7 from 3 to 4:30 p.m., as part of the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival.
The conversation will feature horror directors Nikyatu Jusu (Nanny) and Mariama Diallo, (Master) and will explore their careers as filmmakers pushing genre expectations and leading a new front of cultural conversation in film and media.
The discussion is called “Visionary Women: A Conversation with the New Wave of Filmmaking Voices.”
