Vice President Kamala Harris arrived on Martha’s Vineyard this afternoon after spending the earlier part of her day holding a reproductive health care roundtable in Boston. The vice president will attend a Democratic Party fundraiser while on Island.
The visit to the state is the first Ms. Harris has made since taking office. Massachusetts is the seventh state to which she has traveled in recent weeks to discuss protecting reproductive health care with state legislators.
The White House confirmed that the vice president would be meeting with state legislators and local leaders in Boston, including Gov. Charlie Baker.
At the roundtable, the vice president was expected to convey the administration’s commitment to protecting access to reproductive health care, including abortion access and encourage legislators to continue fighting to protect reproductive rights.
At Logan Airport, Ms. Harris was greeted by U.S.Representative Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass) and Wampanoag Tribe Chairwoman Cheryl Andrews Maltais.
Preparations for the VIP visit were spotted on Sunday, when a helicopter in White House livery and an Air Force jet were seen at the Martha’s Vineyard Airport.
