Fall cutbacks have come early for the Vineyard Transit Authority, which on Monday announced immediate schedule reductions on nine of its 14 routes due to a shortage of drivers with commercial licenses.

The new schedules for routes 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 and 13 are posted at vineyardtransit.com/bus-route-schedules/pages/august-22-2022-october-1-2022.

Among the changes, route 1 from Edgartown to Vineyard Haven is back to twice-an-hour round trips daily and all trips after 10:45 a.m. have been canceled for the downtown Edgartown shuttle, which runs through Sept. 17.

Most of the other changes are in effect through Oct. 1, although the Menemsha sunset shuttle ends Sept. 4.
