September often brings with it windy days of late summer — at least that is what the organizers of the annual Martha’s Vineyard Wind Festival are hoping for this Saturday, Sept. 10.

The event takes place at Ocean Park in Oak Bluffs and involves all manner of elements that do best when confronted with a strong gust — from kites to Frisbees to toy sailboats tacking on the park pond.

The day begins at 10:30 a.m. and runs to 3 p.m. There will be free kite making for kids until noon, and the adult flying competitions are from 1 to 3 p.m. No jet packs allowed.

Prizes, watching the clouds go by, looking at the world from the perspective of one holding a string — it is all headed your way on Saturday, or Sunday if it rains on Saturday.

Go wind.
