Candidates to succeed retiring Chilmark police chief Jonathan Klaren have been narrowed to three, with final interviews by the Chilmark select board taking place Tuesday, Jan. 31.

And advisory committee of Bill Rossi, Tim Rich, Joan Malkin and Irene Ziebarth chose to interview four of seven applicants, eventually picking three Island candidates for the final round: Chilmark officers, Det. Jesse Burton and Sgt. Sean Slavin, and West Tisbury officer, Sgt. Garrison Vieira.

The public meeting on Jan. 31 will be broadcast by MVTV. The time and in-person location of the event will be posted on the town calendar in coming days.
