MVYRADIO has awarded its latest round of Business Diversity Initiative grants to local businesses.
The winners for this quarter are Aquila MV, a year-round shop at the Gay Head Cliffs that highlights Wampanoag and other Indigenous artists and creators; Nu-Life Home Revitalization, a Vineyard Haven-based business offering organization, de-clutter and design services to the Cape and Islands; Seven Stars Academy of Martial Arts, a Falmouth-based martial arts and life skills instruction center; and Superar Strike Clothing, an Oak Bluffs-based business offering affordable athletic wear.
Each business will receive 60 underwriting messages on the radio station to inform the public about their business. The flight of 15-second messages is valued at $1,200 for each grantee.
The Business Diversity Initiative was created to offer underwriting messages to traditionally under-served business owners, including those owned by women, people who identify as Black, Indigenous or people of color, immigrants, as well as members of the LGBTQIA+ community, the disability community and veterans. So far, MVYRADIO has donated $20,400 worth of airtime to the initiative.
Applications for the next round are available now through March 31. More information can be found at mvyradio.org/diversity.
