Monday was a good day to be a Cumberland Farms customer. On the evening of Jan. 30, the Massachusetts lottery announced that a winning $100,000 Powerball ticket had been sold at the Vineyard Haven convenience store.
Christian Teja, the director of communications for the state lottery, confirmed the winner to be Ryan Corr of Pawtucket, R.I. on Wednesday. In order to receive their prize, Mr. Teja explained, winners must bring their ticket in-person to either the Boston headquarters or a regional location, the closest being the New Bedford branch.
“Once they get through the verification process, assuming they pass, they would leave that day with a check,” Mr. Teja said over the phone.
The winning numbers were 1, 4, 12, 36, 49 and Powerball: 5. The winning ticket matched four of those first five numbers drawn and also matched the Powerball number, on a 2X Power Play ticket.
According to the Powerball website, the chances of drawing a ticket like that are 1 in 913,219.
