During the week of March 13 through 17, the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society will host musical ensemble QuinTango as its 2023 artists in residence.
Six musicians playing violin, cello, bandoneon, piano and bass make up QuinTango. They are dedicated to the musical performance of Argentinian tango in concert and dance and are working to redefine tango through original compositions and new takes on great classics.
The Island residency will include teaching and assisting in the Island school music program during the week. Public engagement events will include a free concert at the Martha’s Vineyard Performing Arts Center on Friday, March 17 at 6 p.m., followed by a community tango dance presented by The Yard. Leading up to the community tango, dance master Analia Centurion will give lessons on Wednesday, March 15 and Thursday, March 16 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School.
