The Steamship Authority is accepting submissions for its annual Sail into Imagination art contest. The competition is open to student artists in grades K–12. Winning entries will be featured in a 2024 Steamship Authority calendar and displayed on the SSA website and select ferries. All entries must be received no later than May 19.

The competition encourages students to create original artwork based on the theme Sail into Imagination and that share their vision of traveling aboard SSA ferries to Cape and Islands ports and that interpret the experience of growing up by the sea. Drawing, mixed media, digital art and painting will be accepted; pastel works are not eligible.

All entries will be entered into a drawing for the $150 grand prize. Gift cards for SSA passenger travel will be awarded to 13 student winners from any town on Cape Cod, plus residents of Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Fairhaven or New Bedford.

Original artwork and an entry form should be mailed to Steamship Authority Art Contest, c/o Marketing Department, 509 Falmouth Road, Suite C, Mashpee, MA 02649 or delivered to a Steamship Authority terminal. Return entry form and photos of artwork by email to sailintoimagination@steamshipauthority.com.
