The next meeting of the Chappy Ferry Steering Committee is scheduled for Wednesday, April 5 at 5 p.m. The agenda will include a report by the subcommittee on operator license review. That should be of interest and concern to every Chappaquiddicker. The Zoom link and agenda will be posted on the town of Edgartown website.

This past Tuesday a controlled burn was performed at The Trustees of Reservations’ Wasque preserve. A burn encourages the native vegetation to prosper. Mowing may keep some of the invasive species in check but the natural effects of burning gives the slower-growing sandplain plants an advantage. The conditions were very favorable for a successful operation, with the smoke dispersing away to open water.
