Opening day for the Flying Horses is Saturday, April 8, with the familiar Oak Bluffs carousel music starting up at 11 a.m. and running to 4:30 p.m.

In the off-season many of the horses received a restoration and spruce-up from woodworkers Miles Thurlow and Andy Lyons. The horses were originally created by craftsmen in the 1870s and each one has its own personality and quirks that, thanks to Mr. Thurlow and Mr. Lyons, continues today.

Brass rings await as do popcorn and candy.
