Our roads and sidewalks in town are being redone. Many of our stores are getting a makeover inside also. Margie Meltzer of C.B. Stark Jewelers at 53A Main street is delighted with the renovation of Cheryl and Margie’s jewelry store. It reopened earlier this week. I have seen it and it is beautiful. Paul Karasik is in the middle of the three-week series of film noir selections he has curated for the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society. On Wednesday nights there are presentations of movies starring Richard Widmark, who is one of my faves. So scary.

Michelle Gerhard Jasny and Max Jasny report that daughter Sidney’s equestrian team at Skidmore is heading to the nationals in Kentucky in May. Congratulations, Sidney!

Louisa Gould is showing Nadia Mahfuz, a new artist, at her gallery on Main street. We shall be hearing a lot more about her.

Stop in at our library. Paintings by Heather Sayeau are up in our Art in the Stacks. There are new books available. The library wants you to know that Monday storytimes will stop for the end of April and will resume in May.

My dear cousin Grace Dowling flew to Italy for Easter during her semester abroad in London. She visited my other cousins, the Buckleys and Tabanellis, in Cotignola. I hope that trip is in my future.

Sammy Jo BenDavid and Alan Tomczack announced the birth of their precious Zoe on April 9. Now they have four kids in their family, two boys and two girls. Congratulations.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along Wyatt McCarthy and David Holmberg on April 11. Barbara Kunzelman claims April 13. April 14 belongs to Rita McKenna Kean. And on April 16 Carole Vandal takes the cake. Many happy returns.
