The return of colorful songbirds to my yard is a welcome sign. Could the hummingbirds be here soon?

According to my Academy of American Poets, April is Poetry Month. This year Poem in Your Pocket Day falls on Thursday, April 27. We are encouraged to keep a poem to recite whenever we meet someone on the street, in a store, waiting for the bridge to go down. If you don’t get out, send your poem by email, text, Facebook...whatever way you can get your message out. It can be one of your own or a favorite from another poet. I am known to have two Robert Frost favorites memorized and ready.

Lori Robinson Fisher passed last Saturday morning. The Island is devastated. What a delightful woman! She founded our Islanders Talk group on Facebook and ran an Islanders benefit fund. A great wife, mother, sister and friend. The best thing we can do in her memory is get that colonoscopy. Lori was always cheerful and informative during the progression of her illness. She is greatly missed.
