April showers bring May flowers. Now that April went out with lots of showers, let’s see those flowers grow.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Dylan Klein, Sierra Meuse and Clara Rabeni, who all celebrated April 29; Carter Braillard and Ariel Meyer on April 30; Kevin Castro and Olivia Silva on May 2; Adeline Chandler on May 3; and to Sajada Fair, Quinn Millard and Hector Oliveira, who all celebrate on May 5.

With this rain, add the sun and a little warmer weather, and the Island is going to burst into green. I know a lot of green is showing already but there is more to come. Even though people don’t like them on their lawns, the dandelions are in bloom and that is happy news to fishermen. My dad would see one bloom and the fishing poles would came out: it meant bass season had begun.

Some lilacs are open and the lilies of the valley are getting bigger. Even with all the construction going on at the Stop & Shop, the beauty of the cherry trees can’t be ruined.

Dan Townes, his wife Laura and daughters Camden and Ava had a great school vacation in Costa Rica. There was a lot of down time but also ziplining, swimming and some exotic drinks. It sounded like a great vacation that ended all too soon.

The library’s newsletter for the month of May is out. I am always amazed at the activities that they offer. They have yoga, cooking, knitting and help with the Internet. Elyce always has a great program for all the kids. I know busy time is coming for most people but they have a little something for everyone.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
