Good news! The Blackbird Café food truck will open on June 8. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Returning customers will be happy to learn that the food truck will be supported and supplied by the newly-opened Blackbird Café next to Murdick’s Fudge in town. The menu is greatly expanded to provide for a variety of breakfast and lunch bill of fare. The Chappy Store will be open at the same times for ice and general store items.

In other good news, the Chappy Ferry begins operating on the summer schedule as of Thursday, May 25. Weather permitting, the ferry will run continuously from 6:30 a.m. to midnight. To schedule an early trip at either 5 or at 6 a.m., speak to the ferry captain in person, before 5 p.m. on the day before your early trip.

If you have an emergency that requires the ambulance, hospital emergency room, police or fire department, dial 911, day or night. They will notify everyone necessary to help you, including the Chappy Ferry crew.

Every day more boats appear in the harbor mooring field. Memorial Day is just around the corner and July 4th is a mere seven weeks away.

The Edgartown Yacht Club has scheduled race week this year to begin on June 15 to avoid the congestion of the busier summer months. The New York Yacht Club will arrive for the annual Vineyard rendezvous on August 3. Though not the same fanfare as in the old days, the number and diversity of yachts is still intriguing.
