The fifth annual Chappy Point to Point foot race takes place on Sunday, June 25 and registration is now open. Google Chappy Point to Point 2023 to find the website and sign up. The race will be capped at 300 runners. As of today, almost two-thirds of the spots have been taken.

Chappy Point to Point has been dubbed “an open air race to benefit an open air market.” This year’s proceeds will support a project that benefits Chappy and Edgartown residents alike. It will fund the launching of the Edgartown Village Market, an open air market making the Island’s goods and produce more accessible to downtown Edgartown and Chappy residents during the Vineyard’s busiest months. The market starts on June 27 and will be held on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the lower lawn at the Dr. Daniel Fisher House.

The Edgartown Village Market is a joint venture of Vineyard Preservation Trust, Chappy Point to Point, the Edgartown Board of Trade, and Grace and Zach Pinerio, who are members of the retail and artisan communities, respectively. They are five distinct entities with a shared goal: to enhance our downtown by creating a market that is unique to Edgartown. Hopefully, the race proceeds will cover the expenses for at least two to three years. Race supporters can advertise in race literature for a contribution of $2,500.

The Pied Piper ferry began running Memorial Day weekend. For the next two weekends, service will be provided starting with a first trip leaving Falmouth at 11:30 a.m. Friday and a last trip leaving Edgartown at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, with several trips per day in between. Full daily service begins Friday, June 15.

This ferry brings you right to Chappy’s doorstep. If you have guests coming, consider the benefits. No time-consuming and frustrating trip to Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven. Your guests will have a pleasant water tour of Nantucket Sound and Edgartown Harbor. They get to hop out of their car right at the ferry landing in Falmouth harbor. No crowded nerve-wracking shuttle bus ride is required. If you are running late picking them up at Chappy Point, send them over to the Ice Cream and Candy Bazaar. Same plan if you need to drop them off early for their departure.

The Falmouth to Edgartown Ferry website is very thorough. You can even treat your guests to the fare by buying their tickets online. When they insist on paying you back, mention lobster salad!
