The boys tennis team continued its strong work in post-season play, sweeping Boston Latin Academy 5-0 on Wednesday during second round action. Last Friday the boys team swept Ludlow High School to begin its playoff run.

The team finished the regular season with a record of 14-2 and is seeded second in the division 3 championship tournament.

“We have a really talented group of players who have been in this position before,” said first year head coach Nicole Macy.

Last year the boys team made it the semi finals of the state tournament.

Next up is a quarter final match at home against Medfield on Friday, June 9, beginning at 2 p.m. It is a team and a town Ms. Macy knows well, having moved from Medfield to the Vineyard a year and a half ago.

“It’s my hometown,” Ms. Macy said, adding that her mother coaches the girls tennis team in Medfield.

The quarter final round will be the last home game of the season as the semifinals and finals are played on neutral territory.

In other playoff action this week, the girls tennis team lost on Tuesday to top-seeded Weston High School and boys lacrosse lost in its first round playoff match last Friday to Abington High School.
