Nelly Long was presented with the athlete of the month award Monday for the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.

Steve Dubzinski from the MIAA attended the ceremony at the regional high school, presenting Ms. Long with a recognition plaque, an MIAA backpack and a $1,000 to toward college tuition.

Ms. Long will attend Simmons College next year where she will play field hockey. Her father Russell Long, several friends and her coaches were in attendance.
