There are no adoptions to report this week, but the pets of the week are two brothers.
Smokey and Bandit are both two-year-old, medium-haired, black cats. These boys are very bonded. They do everything together, so we would like them to be re-homed together. But if that’s not possible it isn’t a deal breaker. Both are very sweet, affectionate cats, definite lap sitters who love people. Smokey is the smaller of the two and very playful, and Bandit the larger and shyer of the two.
Teddy needs a good home. He is about five years old, a short-haired, mixed breed, hound dog who is of medium size. His markings are brindle and white, and he’s a happy dog that loves to play and loves his toys. Teddy does have some reactivity issues and is not a fan of cats. He has been undergoing training and is responding very well, but it will need to be continued by his new family.
Also still available are Peter and Teddy, eight-month-old, black male rabbits. They have been hand-raised and are litter box-trained. Both are very friendly and love to be held and cuddled. And they’re happy living indoors or out.
Did you know that we get many calls about lost and found animals? We keep a written log and callers are advised to contact their animal control officer. We also use social media to advertise/collect data for these pets.
The 14th Annual Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard Garden Party was held this past Monday and was a rollicking success. A big thank you to everyone who attended.
The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.
The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662.
