Please attend the Chappy Ferry steering committee meeting on Friday, July 7 at 3 p.m. Any and all of the items on the agenda should be of importance to Chappaquiddickers. There will be discussion regarding adapting the ferry operation to sea level rise as well as retaining consultants to delve into ownership scenarios, new ferry designs and traffic flows. And, of course, the age-old question of how to structure the ferry fares. Find the Zoom link on the town of Edgartown website.

Congratulations to Margaret and Jim Mullen on celebrating a half-century of marriage on Friday. You may hear the phrase “Margaret is a saint!” bandied about this weekend.

Start gathering up your household hazardous waste for collection on Saturday, July 15. More information regarding a collection on Chappy that morning will follow. See the Martha’s Vineyard Refuse Disposal District website for complete information about which icky stuff they will accept.

Mark your calendar for the Chappaquiddick Island Association’s annual meeting on Saturday, July 22. It will be held at 9 a.m. at the community center.

Activities are in full swing at the Chappaquiddick Community Center. Check the website for complete information.

The deadline to submit photos for the 2024 Chappaquiddick Community Center calendar is July 28. See the CCC website for submission criteria. Photos will be on display for voting starting on July 31. Fourteen winners will be featured in the calendar, front and back cover plus each of the 12 months.

I believe that among the vast variety of activities on the community center calendar, by far the most important item is the lobster roll dinner on Thursday, July 20. The meal includes chips and a drink. You can order online! But you must do that by noon on Sunday, July 16. Pick up is on Thursday, July 20 from 3 to 4 p.m.
