Music man Stephen Hart attended the concert played by The Allman Betts Band at the Martha’s Vineyard Performing Arts Center last weekend and declared it fabulous.
Stephen and his friends will be giving a concert at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown on Friday, July 21. It will benefit his young niece Sofia, who needs a heart transplant. I’ll see you there.
It rained on our parade in Edgartown on the Fourth of July. Steve Nichols, my hero ever since I have known him, was riding in an antique car. A kind soul lent him an umbrella.
The fireworks were delayed but beautiful as I saw them on my device. I had to stay in with the dogs. Minnie was very upset but Toby was not. Alas, I fear that at age 16, Toby is losing his hearing.
Seth Meyers will host the Possible Dreams Auction on July 23. He is always so wonderful at that!
Photographer Caroline Dee Thornton of West Tisbury is part of an exhibit at the Galaxy Gallery in Oak Bluffs. I highly recommend it.
My American Legion Hall Post 257 on Martin Road in Vineyard Haven offers lobster rolls and chowder on Tuesdays from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. Take out or dine in. Always excellent camaraderie.
I try to accept death. But I really have trouble with it. Two stars in my galaxy died in the past two weeks. Doug Grant from New York University who was so kind and such an intellect. He was the father of three sons and one lovely daughter, and had two grandchildren.
The other was a wonderful man from White Plains, N.Y., my neighbor Dan Pellegrin. He was the devoted husband of Donna and father of 12 children. He was a lawyer, deacon at the Catholic church, always singing, always smiling. I shall miss them both forever.
The birthday bandwagon pulled along Naphtalie Woodruff, Thomas Roux and Jean Azevedo on July 11. Many happy returns.
