It is raining today and it is cool. The rest of the week, the temperatures are going to be in the 80s. The changeover of clothing is tough and things are piling up except sweatshirts. I love the fall and flannel shirt time.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Dani Grow and Joao Oliveira, who celebrated August 26, Prado Oliveira on August 27 and to Rayssa Donato, who celebrated on August 28.

There was a big crane in front of the Stop and Shop this week. I don’t know what it was for but I could see it from Donaroma’s nursery, and remembered that construction can resume next week. I am getting a little anxious about the completion and want to see what we will be enjoying.

I always talk about the flowers at the nursery but the wildlife and insect worlds are also pretty interesting. I actually saw a bunny today, which is possible because Pumpkin, our visiting cat, has not been around as much, and the baby bunnies made it. The deer love to make a salad out of the violets and hostas when they get the chance to, and the deer spray wears off the plants. We blamed the deer for the past invasion of plants but changed our minds when we discovered nine small turkeys strolling between the tables one morning.

The bees as usual are very busy. On Saturday we saw one bumblebee so full of pollen that we didn’t think he could fly if he wanted to. The monarchs are starting to make a showing. They are late this year but we were happy to see several flying around these past few days. The praying mantis have arrived. We are also enjoying a couple of hummingbirds that are enjoying salvias and topicals that are still in the yard.

Traffic is slowing down a very little bit. Bikes are still on the bike path but don’t forget that school starts next week and kids will be on their bikes and scooters, heading to school. Please keep an eye out on the bike path in the morning and afternoon as they fill up the paths even more.

I hope you all have a safe holiday. If you are heading back to your winter homes, safe travels and we will see you in the spring.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
