A teenager that was reported missing after a trip to the Vineyard was found Wednesday, according to police.

Falmouth and Tisbury police were looking for Alex Heintz, 16, after he left his home in Falmouth Tuesday morning and was last seen leaving a Steamship Authority ferry in Vineyard Haven with a blue Trek mountain bike. 

Police asked for the public’s help in finding the teenager on social media and reported around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday that Alex had been located and was safe.

“[Falmouth police] thanks the public for the public for the shares and help in locating him,” the department wrote.
