Could not have asked for a better five weather days in a row! Clear, sunny, no storms. What a way to begin and end the Labor Day weekend.

Another notable day for the end of the season is Tivoli Day, being celebrated on Sept. 16 in Oak Bluffs. Circuit avenue will be closed to traffic between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The day is open to all ages and abilities. Applications for vendors must be received by Sept. 8. The music will be amazing and non-stop: Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish, Pat Law, John O’Toole, Pick-Pockets, ESP, Darby Patterson, the Phil daRosa Band and the Flying Elbows. Music, food and fun.

Of course we wish Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish safe travels back from their recent gig in Norway. I can’t wait to hear about that!

Our Martha’s Vineyard chapter of the NAACP reminds us that the George Tankard Road Race is also scheduled for Sept. 16. It starts and ends at Summercamp in Oak Bluffs. We are looking for volunteers to help at the road race. Please call Carrie Tankard if you can help, 508-693-2797.

We are at a loss with the passing of Fred Mascolo, known as Trader Fred. What a great man! He did so much for so many.

Mike Sisco is mourning the loss of Rocky Balboa Sisco, his faithful companion for 14 years. Our condolences.

Bunny Alfano and Tim Wilson celebrated 46 years of wedded bliss on Sept. 4.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along Anna Edey on Sept. 1. Sept. 2 was a party for Tanita Macy and Anne Akerley. Sept. 3 was the birthday of Katie Viera, Bonnie Eldredge Kehoe, Bob Pacheco, Caroline Donovan, Fran Copeland and Brandon and Lindsey Smith. And on Sept. 4 Chelsea Mercier took the cake. Many happy returns.
