We have hit the jackpot in the weather department. The sun has been shining, it has been warm and there is a light breeze. Who could ask for more?
Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Yan DeOliveira, who celebrated Oct. 22; Pedro Abreu, Brady Davenport and Daniel Sawers on Oct. 23; Duarte Andrade Capaz on Oct. 24; Emily Cowell on Oct. 25; and to Isabella Burns and Mason Burns who celebrate on Oct. 27.
Special birthday wishes go out to Paula Dello Russo, who celebrated her day Wednesday, Oct. 25.
My niece Debbie and I go out to dinner on Wednesday nights. We try something different every week. Last week we picked The Barn, Bowl & Bistro in Oak Bluffs. Of course, we drove along the Beach Road, and we saw the most beautiful sky. We felt as though we were driving into a whirl of clouds that were dark and ominous yet very peaceful.
We looked off to the Cape and you could not see land. We could see the rain falling yet as you looked toward Chappy the sun was shining and the sky was blue. Then, as you looked at the ocean and then over to Sengy, the water was like glass. We didn’t know which way to look and neither of us thought to pull out our phones to take pictures.
The Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School has done it again. The scarecrows are popping up all through the towns. I have not been through our town yet, but I spied one of the school’s scarecrows at the post office on my way home Tuesday night. I always feel as though the displays get us in the spirit of Halloween. The students are so creative with their goblins.
I have been watching Rick Mello getting his Haunted House ready for Halloween. He sets it up for kids of all ages and I am sure there will be lots of candy. You can visit the Haunted House at 426 State Road in Vineyard Haven on Oct. 30 and 31. Child-friendly hours with candy included are from 4 to 6 p.m. and then from 6 to 10 p.m., the scary stuff sets in. He has worked hard on this so I hope you can stop by and enjoy.
I hope you all have a great and safe Halloween.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
