A signed language discussion with ASL interpreters takes place Wednesday, Nov. 8 at the Oak Bluffs Library.
Guests speaking at the event include Dr. Jody Cripps, a deaf ASL professor from Clemson University; Dr. Melanie Cody, a deaf Cherokee, Shawnee, Powhatan, Montauk and North American Indian sign language specialist from the University of Arizona; Doreen Simmons, a retired deaf ASL researcher from University of Connecticut; Dr. Alton Brant, a retired educator and CODA from Seneca, S.C.; Connie Steuerwald, a deaf resident and signed language practice circle teacher at the Oak Bluffs Library.
The event begins at 5 p.m. and is in collaboration with the MV Signs Then & Now project.
The Oak Bluffs Public Library is located 56R School Street, Oak Bluffs.
