This past Tuesday was Giving Tuesday. It is part of a movement that takes place every year on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. It offers people an opportunity to make a positive impact in the world and shift the focus away from consumerism and commercialization.

It’s never too late to participate. The Chappy Community Center has a matching donor of up to $150,000 until the end of the year. The center has a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. See the CCC website for complete details.

The Holiday Tea this year will be on Sunday, Dec. 10 starting at 2 p.m. The next potluck is on Wednesday Dec. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. Yoga with Jay continues on Sundays at 8:30 a.m.

The Chappy Ferry schedule for Christmas Day will be the traditional on the hour during the morning with the normal continuous service beginning at noon.

There are half a dozen bee keepers on Chappy. A new club has been organized by the Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society to get these folks together to share experiences, expertise, equipment and to group-order bees and supplies. The meetings are scheduled for the first Wednesday of the month from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Agriculural Hall in West Tisbury. Whether you have bees or are just thinking about it, you are invited.

A pair of aerial photos of the Wasque breach were posted recently on the Chappy Chat Facebook page. One shows the current configuration. The other is of the breach shortly after it occurred. We’re coming up on the one-year anniversary of this opening which happened during a storm on Dec. 23, 2022.
