I am waiting for the snow to start and leave us a little color for the season. It has been a roller coaster of weather with warmth one day and then cold temperatures and wind the next. Personally I am ready for some sweatshirt weather and a hunker-down night.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Adeline Brown and Emmett Silva, who celebrated Dec. 3; Colby Greene and Taylor Prescott, Dec. 5; James Thornton, Dec. 6; Cruz Cancellare, Dec. 7; and to Perolla Marcal, Sloan Snowden and Emma Wallace who all celebrate their day on Dec. 8.

Town is certainly looking very festive. I personally am glad the white lights are back in Cannonball Park. They light up that area and enhance the colored lights on the lamp poles. I just plain like Christmas decorations!

Once again Tom Bassett, Dan Kaeka and, this year, Glen Searle have done their magic in town. It has been their tradition going back to Tom’s father Gordon, who did the lighting for years. Thank you for your years of dedication.

While trying to get into the Christmas spirit I found the holiday movies I enjoy watching while decorating and wrapping gifts (which I have not bought yet). They are A Christmas Carol with Reginald Owen, It’s a Wonderful Life and, of course, White Christmas. I don’t know how we lived without smart TVs: I had to search different apps for the movies but was happy to find them.

I have been enjoying watching people posting their favorite Christmas cookie, bread and candy recipes. My mom made the best fudge and I have yet to master it but I keep trying. Nancy and Peter Shemeth shared some of their breads and they were delicious.

My family always looked forward to my godmother’s cookies. She made pecan balls to die for. It is nice to see traditions carry on and it tastes good.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
