Warm, rain, wind, then cold was the weather of the last week. Picking clothes to wear is difficult, so layers are the best bet, but I am happy with sweater weather.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Ilija Trance who celebrated on Dec. 9; Isaac Schaffer and Isabella Francis-Espino on Dec. 11, Benjamin Fuller on Dec. 12 and to Bella Silva who celebrated on Dec. 13.

It was a busy weekend. The weather was more than you could ask for. The parade was a success and of course Santa was the highlight. At Donaroma’s, we had a wreath-making workshop and boxwood trees and we saw many happy faces leaving with their projects.

My highlight was the Minnesingers concert on Friday night. The talent of these young ladies and gentlemen never ceases to amaze me. They are preparing for their tour this year to Germany and Austria, which will be an experience for all.

You all know I have a candle burning in my window year-round. The tradition comes from when I was young and my brothers were both in the service. At Christmas, my parents would put the white light in the window on the right side of the sidewalk to guide them home safely. This is the reason I end my column with “keep the home candles burning.” This year, with all the conflict going on in this world, I hope these candles guide many home safely.

The crunch is on. I think my shopping is done now except for the marathon wrapping. I know the boats are filled this weekend with last-minute shoppers going off to finish their lists. I am sure all the stores will be busy.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
