We did not have a white Christmas, we had a tropical one. The fleece jammies turned into leggings and a T-shirt. Santa arrived anyway and there is always next year to hope for snow.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. I hope you all had a special day.

Once again I was lucky enough to watch Christmas through the eyes of children. The magic of the day is never disappointing. All the work leading up to that morning — the shopping, the wrapping and then hiding things — is all over in a matter of an hour. But the smiles and looks on the faces are all worth it.

Congratulations to Jeff Sayre, who is retiring from FedEx. I cannot remember a day that he has not been delivering. Word has it that he is going to be doing a lot of fishing. Whatever you do, Jeff: good luck and enjoy.

I have friends who set up their Christmas decorations on or before Thanksgiving. I have one friend who, as of Dec. 26, you would never know that Christmas ever happened. Wish I had that energy.

I hope you all had a wonderful day and enjoyed your family and got to watch your favorite Christmas movie.

I wish you all a very Happy New Year and, most importantly, a very healthy one.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
