I am hearing that a northeaster is coming this weekend. We have been enjoying some sun and warmer-than-usual weather, so I am ready for some wintery weather.
Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. I am still away and hope to catch up next week.
I hope you all had a great New Year. I am still with my family and we were recovering from our trip to Great Wolf Lodge. What a great time the kids had — and so did the adults. There was a lot to do and lots of swimming in the two sections of pools they have available for kids of all sizes and swimming abilities. They also had mini-golf, rock climbing and a rope course. It was great fun with the kids and if you are a people watcher, you are in the right place.
I received the Edgartown Library newsletter. As usual they have many activities for everyone. The one that caught my eye was Salt Water Wednesdays. If you ever wanted to learn how to filet a fish or shuck an oyster, you can sign up at the library or online. The program starts Wednesday Jan. 10 from 1 to 2 p.m. This week you will learn how to shuck locally-harvested Edgartown Bay scallops, with thanks to the Edgartown shellfish department.
Also, I just downloaded the app called Libby, which connects your library CLAMS card to your phone or tablet and you can borrow books online and read on your tablet or phone. I know a lot of people like the feel of the book while reading but I like being able to read on the tablet while traveling, or I sometimes read on my lunch break. If you can’t download the app and connect, the library personnel are very helpful.
With the winter weather coming, I am preparing to make a big pot of kale soup. It smells so good when it is cooking. I try to make enough to share and, of course, freeze. I don’t know what it is about stormy weather that makes you want to cook but it gets me every time.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
