So, happy new year. I am done with resolutions. I am going to be the same irascible person you always loved. Other than that I have two resolutions: a home for every dog and cat. World peace. Please join with me on these resolutions. Best to you all in 2024 and always.

Of course blizzard conditions are due this weekend. Ice, snow, winds. I should have moved to a banana republic rather than a cranberry republic.

In spite of blizzard conditions, I urge you to drive to Pathways in Chilmark when they are open. Artists, musicians, poets, writers. Free admission. Go there.

Martha Dunham had her granddaughter Becca and Becca’s husband Leigh, over the holidays. Everyone is doing well.

0ur Vineyard Haven Public Library has new books and new programs. Check them out. I could not live without a library.

Carol and Jim Osborn’s annual Christmas card came today with their well-written annual letter of well wishes for us and their family. Jim Osborn is moving along with his Lyft driving. Carol and Jim hope to be able to visit many of their friends in Kenya, Uganda, India and Pakistan. It is an ambitious list. I hope they make it.

Corly Maciel’s graveside service is at Oak Grove Cemetery in Vineyard Haven on Jan. 5. He was a great friend to all.

Jen Dunham is feeling better. Michael Blanchard needs our continued prayers.

And on Jan. 2, Anthony J. Masi took the cake. Many happy returns.
