We currently have no residents and are undergoing a major cleaning so we will be ready when our next adoptable pets arrive.

Some dates to remember: the next nail clinic will take place on Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.; walks-ins only, $20 cash or check. And Saturday, Feb. 17 is the date of the next visit by All Pets Medical Center. If you would like to schedule an appointment for your pet, please contact them at 508-743-8338.

If anyone is in need, we have a handful of dog products available. There are some harnesses, sweaters in all sizes and a few life jackets. Please stop by the shelter Tuesday through Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Did you know that pet owners can surrender animals at no cost during business hours? A behavioral assessment is done before admittance to be sure the animal can be safely adopted and does not pose any physical or medical hazards. All surrendered animals are brought up to date medically with vaccinations, spay/neuter, parasite and worming treatments, and identification chip insertion.

Any medical conditions are also evaluated and appropriate action is taken. Once the interview process is completed, we then begin to interview prospective adopters. Our primary function is to keep our guests fed and happy in an environment as close to home as possible until they are adopted.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662. Hours are: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
