March started out like spring was on its way, boy did we get fooled. A couple of my friends had flip flops ready, but that changed in a couple of days. March winds are winning, and even though the daffodils are blooming, coats and sweaters are still the attire.
Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Zara Pencheva, who celebrated March 23; Zion De Oliveira, Julia Florio, Taylor Martins, March 24; Aidden Dunnebier, Daniel Gundes, Angel Petyoshin, April Petyoshin, March 25; Alicia Pereira, March 26; Kauany Gomes, March 28; Luis Cardoso, Clarice Lima, Heitor Loiola and Amar Rodriques on March 29.
The town is starting to wake up a little. Landscapers are starting to freshen up pots and get after those left over leaves, I can see painters getting ready to scrape old paint. Some people are already going around and filling out job applications; some people are here to start opening up their houses for summer.
Just a heads up that the Edgartown Library will be closed April 2 till April 6 while the staff attends a conference.
When I left for work last week, I heard the kids outside at the school. I figured that they were having a fire drill. Then I noticed, as I turned onto the Edgartown/West Tisbury Road, that parents were driving to the school rather than dropping off. I became a little concerned, but when I saw people at the end of the driveway at the school and a policeman standing and smiling by the library, I figured out that the school was doing some kind of running race. Later, my co-worker Paula came to work and told me she had just ran with her daughter Violet in annual the school run.
I was impressed because the block is a mile and that is a lot of kids to keep track of or even keep running. Hats off to all the teachers, and the police department and all those parents that showed up to do the run and keep the children safe.
It is Easter weekend and I wish you all a great day. I hope you have time to spend with family.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
