Mother Nature is sure fooling with us. Easter Sunday was a treat, now we are having more rain, wind and cold. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for the month of April.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Matheo Gomes, who celebrated March 31; JullyAnn Guerra, April 1; Debora Flores, April 3; Derick Gomes, April 4; Rafaella Barros and Nathan Brodeur, April 5.

It is the time of the year that we are getting itchy to do some yard work especially if the weather is nice. If you want to plant something, it is time to plant your peas. It is common to start around St. Patrick’s Day, but you are not late. Of course, you can start your seeds in the house so when they get big enough and there is no threat of frost you will have some great plants to put in your garden.

On April 8 we will be having an eclipse. It is not a total eclipse, but we will be able to see 90 per cent coverage. It starts at 2:16 p.m. and will finish at 3:29 p.m. Remember not to look directly at the sun. You can check the libraries to see if they have glasses available.

When my niece Debbie is on-Island, which is at least once a month, we go out for dinner. We have done this for the past year and a half, and we try restaurants that we know we would not be able to go to in the summer, when they are busier, or that it is all the way in Vineyard Haven. This time it was the Square Rigger. It is under new management we were happy to see the newly painted walls and welcoming staff. They kept the old tables with the beautiful roping and clear varnish. The food was very good and reasonable. I know we will be going back, and they informed us they would be changing the menu to keep up with the seasons.

Did you know you can read books on your phone and get it from your local library free? I downloaded the app Libby last winter, and I could not figure the whole connection out so I went to the library and they connected me with my CLAMS card. You go on the app and pick a book out of the thousands they offer. So easy and free.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
